The sailing trip in the Saronic Gulf from the port of Nea Peramos to the islands of Aegina, Agkistri and Poros, including also some picturesque ports at the mainland, is a wonderful and easy route, with amazing destinations in close distance to each other. Indeed, maximum distance between the islands is around 2 hours - with the exception of the return to Nea Peramos on the last day.
This weekly sailing tour starting from Athens is considered an easy trip, not only because of the small distances, also because of the calm weather conditions that prevail in this area. The Saronic Gulf is protected from the Northern winds that can cause the biggest issues during summer months. The area can be affected, but mostly at the east of Poros island, as it gets closer to the open Aegean Sea. On the contrary, this route stays west of Poros, so protection from the Northern winds endures through out the week. This does not mean that there are no winds and one can only motor from one place to the other. In windy days, happy sailing is very possible, with winds reaching 20-25 knots, but the conditions are calmer, as the waves are small, and the ports are usually well protected.
Most importantly, destinations are wonderful, with crystal waters in the islands of Aegina and Agkistri, with picturesque ports, such as Poros. Moreover, there are so many additional destinations in this area, that you can change the route of the sailing cruise in the Saronic Gulf according to changing weather conditions or your personal preferences. We mention some alternative options for this route, for example in case you prefer to spend the night in a port instead of anchor, or the opposite.
